Maharashtra Polls: Modi to Launch Campaign Today, BJP and Congress Leaders Plan Statewide Rallies

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to kick off his campaign for the Maharashtra assembly elections with rallies in Nashik and Dhule in north Maharashtra. Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will hold multiple rallies across the state for the BJP. Meanwhile, Congress is mobilizing its senior leaders, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge, along with Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, to lead their campaign efforts. Modi will begin his seven-day campaign on Friday, April 8, in Dhule, followed by a rally in Nashik. On April 9, he is scheduled to address gatherings in Akola and Nanded, and later visit Chimur, Salapur, and Pune. Modi’s campaign will wrap up on April 14 with rallies in Sambhaji Nagar, Raigad, and Mumbai.

Amit Shah will hold more than 20 rallies, beginning with Shirala, Karad, Sangli, and Kolhapur. Yogi Adityanath is also expected to address around 15 to 18 rallies, particularly in regions with a strong north Indian voter base. Additional campaign efforts include Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, who will hold over 20 rallies, and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh with at least six rallies planned across Maharashtra. Chief ministers from other states, including Rajasthan’s Bhajan Lal Sharma, Uttarakhand’s Pushkar Singh Dhami, and Madhya Pradesh’s Mohan Yadav, will also join to support Mahayuti candidates.

On the Congress side, Rahul Gandhi will campaign for four days starting April 12, with additional dates on April 14 and 16, totaling up to ten rallies across the state. During his recent visits to Nagpur and Mumbai, he unveiled the party’s poll manifesto alongside senior leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Sharad Pawar, and Uddhav Thackeray. Priyanka Gandhi will also campaign in Maharashtra for three days on April 13, 16, and 17, while the Congress president will be actively campaigning from April 13 to April 18. Additional schedules for Congress leaders like Karnataka’s Siddaramaiah and Telangana’s Revanth Reddy are being prepared to support the Maharashtra campaign.
