Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal’s Advice to “Build a Relationship” With Customers Sparks Hilarious Push Notifications

Recently, Deepinder Goyal, CEO of food e-commerce platform Zomato, appeared on the latest episode of the popular streaming comedy show alongside his wife Gia Goyal, businessman Narayana Murthy, and his wife Sudha Murthy, a Rajya Sabha member. During the episode, host Kapil highlighted the flirtatious tone in Zomato’s push notifications, joking, “Their company’s notifications are so flirty; it feels like a conversation between a boyfriend and girlfriend.” The audience erupted with laughter as Kapil showcased some of these humorous messages, appreciating the creativity of Zomato’s young copywriters.

Kapil playfully asked Goyal, “Were these messages meant for customers, or did you accidentally send a message intended for Gia to everyone?” Deepinder responded with a laugh, “Maybe once or twice! But really, our marketing team is very young and passionate, with little formal training in marketing. I once told them to ‘build a relationship with the customer.’ I didn’t even know what it meant exactly—I read it in a book! They took me very seriously.”

The show, featuring stars like Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Rajiv Thakur, and Archana Puran Singh, promises to celebrate India’s vibrant culture alongside celebrity guests. The format of this new show mirrors the essence of previous fan-favorite series, offering a lively take on current events and popular personalities. Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
