Shah Rukh Khan Death Threat: Police Arrest Accused Who Claims His Phone Was Stolen
On Tuesday, the police arrested a man in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, for allegedly issuing death threats to actor Shah Rukh Khan. Last week, a call was received by police threatening Khan and demanding ₹50 lakh. A case was registered under sections 308(4) (extortion involving threats of death or serious injury) and 351(3)(4) (criminal intimidation) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the caller.
The authorities identified a lawyer named Faizan Khan in Chhattisgarh as the suspect, tracking the call to a phone number registered in his name. Faizan Khan was summoned but did not appear, which led to his arrest.
According to the police, Faizan Khan, who lives in the jurisdiction of Pandri police station, claimed he had lost his phone and filed a report about it at the Khamardih police station. He told the media that the call was a conspiracy against him. “My phone was stolen on November 2, and I reported it. The police interrogated me for about two hours,” he said.
Faizan added that he had previously lodged a complaint against Shah Rukh Khan regarding a dialogue in Khan’s 1994 movie Anjaam, which referenced deer hunting. “As someone from Rajasthan, where the Bishnoi community holds deer protection sacred, I found this offensive and condemned it,” he explained.
He stated, “Whoever made that call from my phone did it with intent. I believe it’s a conspiracy against me.”
